Kara Jeanne (Epperson) McKinney '94

Kara was born in Portland on July 1, 1976 and was raised in Gresham and Corbett. She married Aaron McKinney of Las Vegas in 2001 and the couple had a son, Cole. Kara died October 28, 2007.

Shelley Jean Donnelly '87

Shelley was born April 12, 1969, in Portland. She died December 31, 2007 of neurofibromatosis. Shelley worked as a prep cook in Long Beach and moved to Troutdale in 2001.

Linda Marie (Groesch) Van Hee '84

Linda was born March 6, 1966 in Los Angeles. She died March 25, 2001. Linda worked briefly at Fred Meyer before marrying Tracy Van Hee and giving birth to two children, Tory and Carly.

Fern K. (Collins) Seaburn-Westmoreland '64

Fern was born January 30, 1945 in Blythe, CA and died March 15, 2008. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Fern had four children and seven grandchildren and worked at Rest Harbor Nursing Home in Gresham before retiring in 2002. While Fern did not graduate from Corbett, she attended CHS in the early sixties with the class of '64.

Donna (Foster) Blanc '63

Donna Blanc died October 28, 2007. She was married to Ken Blanc (class of '59) and had three children. Her son Greg graduated from Corbett in '82 and her daughter Cheryl in '87. Tom Dotey was her companion later in life.

Donnie Hugh Stubbs '57

Donnie Hugh Stubbs was born January 22, 1939, to Parker and Martha (Workman) Stubbs in Glennville, Georgia. He grew up in East Multnomah County, graduating from Corbett High School, Class of '57. Donnie married his high school sweetheart Joanne (Barringer), November 9, 1957. His only child, Julie (Stubbs) Nichols joined them in 1959.

Bill Mershon '52

Bill passed away on October 25, 2008. His daughter Terri, had this to say about her father: "He was born in Portland on Feb.3, 1933. He graduated from Corbett High in '52 and spent 5 yrs. in the Army. He married Leona Erb in April 56'. He retired from Reynolds Aluminum after 40+ yrs. and moved to Henderson, Nevada w/ Lea, where they built a beautiful home. Bill loved his yard, and was always doing something creative to enhance it. He also enjoyed his part-time job as a greeter at Walmart! He was a grandfather to 6 and great-grandfather to 11 children. He lived a full wonderful life and is VERY much missed."

Marlin Proctor Reynoldson '51

Marlin was born March 13, 1932 in Albion, NE and was the youngest of 6 children. His family moved to Oregon in 1942. After graduating from CHS, Marlin joined the US Army and was stationed in Korea. He married Lois Dillard (class of '52) and the couple had three children, Vickie, Tony, and Wendy. Marlin loved photography, flowers, and going on cruises. He died of complications from surgery on January 4, 2008.

Robert "Bob" Davis '44

Robert "Bob" Davis son of Delbert "Fay" and Bertha Davis, born in 1926 while his parents lived in Corbett next to Arneson's store, died September 15, 2008. Bertha's father, Alexander Barr, came to the Mountain district in 1891. He married Annie Hickey, daughter of Frank Hickey, who had settled there in 1881. Fay's parents settled in the Hurlburt district in 1902.

Rosemary Evans Nichol '41

Rosemary was born March 13, 1923. She graduated from OSU in the '40s and married Robert Leo Nichol in 1947. In the '60s she returned to Oregon State to earn a degree in education then taught in Siletz, Newport, and Waldport. Reading and storytelling were among her pastimes. She died January 30, 2004.

Robert "Bob" Leo Nichol Jr.

Bob was born in Vancouver on March 4, 1921and grew up in the Troutdale area. He attended Corbett briefly in the late 30s and went on to serve in the US Navy. He was married to Rosemary Evans Nichol, who graduated in 1941. Bob died January 17, 2002.

Julia Frances (Wand) Fagan '36

Julia was born May 2, 1918 in Troutdale. After graduating from CHS she received her teaching certificate from Mt. Angel Normal School. She taught in Clackamas and Multnomah counties and in 1955 married Frank Fagan. Julia died June 15, 2008.

Hazel M. (Deverell) Gilson'34

Hazel was born in Corbett on August 31, 1915. As an adult she lived in Newport, Toledo, and Woodburn. She passed away December 9, 2003.

George J. Wand '34

George J. Wand, life-long resident of the former Pleasant View District, died Saturday, October 4, 2008. George was the fourth child of Frank and Teresa (Lampert) Wand. Teresa was a daugh­ter of Alexander and Julia Lampert, who homesteaded on what later became Chamberlain Hill (a.k.a. cabbage hill) in the 1880s. Frank Wand came to Oregon in 1899 and went to work for Julia Lampert, who had lost her husband to tu-berculosis in 1896. George's four siblings were Ignatius, Alexander, Louise and Julia, all of whom preceded him in death.

Jerome Fehrenbacher '34

Jerome Fehrenbacher was born in 1917, son of Frank and Josephine Fehrenbacher, who lived on Chamberlain (cabbage) Hill. Jerome started grade school at Pleasant View, completing grades 1 and 2 during the school year 1923-24, the year Pleasant View closed. His father, now a widower, sent Jerome and his sister, Evelyn, to stay with relatives in Portland, where both attended Catholic schools. After completing grade 5, Jerome returned home, and completed grade school at Corbett. Evelyn remained with relatives, and completed grade school in Portland before returning to the farm. Both attended CHS, Jerome graduating in 1934, and Evelyn in 1937.

Agnes Margaret (Soderstrom) Frey '31

Agnes was born July 31, 1913. She married Hugh Watts in '34 and lived with him in Peru until his death in 1939. During WWII she attended one year of business college, then in 1951 she married Edward Frey. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, sewing cooking and canning. She died March 24, 2002.

Lloyd Bramhall '25

Lloyd Bramhall graduated from Columbian High School in 1924, one of seven graduates that year (Veda Butler, Louise Dutton, Irene Evans, Agatha Harding, Jay N. Ports and Lucille Woodard). The Class of 1924 was the first class to graduate from the new high school, which opened in September, 1923. The students had completed their junior year at the Columbia Grange, which provided temporary classrooms for CHS students, 1922-23. Of course, they attended the first Columbian High their freshman and sophomore years. (The first CHS provided the foundation upon which Corbett Grade School was built, after the fire).

Mary Deaver '19

Mary Deaver graduated from Columbian High School in 1919. She and Myra Ross were the only graduates of CHS that year. She attended Mountain Grade School, which was located at the 1-mile post on what is now Larch Mountain Road. In 1871, her father, James C. Deaver, a veteran of the Civil War, settled on a 160-acre place in the Columbia River Gorge, one of the earliest settlers of the area. (The Portland Women's Forum State Scenic Viewpoint is part of the original Deaver place). In 1886, Deaver married Willa M. Walters. The couple had five children, William, Lewis, Helen, James and Mary. After Mary graduated, she married Grover C. Scudder, an itinerant preacher, but the marriage did not last. The couple had one son, James "Jim" Scudder before they separated. Thereafter, she lived with her parents on the home place until World War II commenced.
